Win for Minch

Report

After a narrow defeat by Hardwicke last week, Minch U13s returned to the field tonight to face Stinchcombe at home.

Captain on the day, Billy Payne won the toss and following England’s example decided to bat first.

The opening pairing of Dan Kettle and Dylan Hartley took no time in getting runs on the board. Dan was to score 5 fours and a six, before the pair were replaced by RAF and Billy who between them scored 7 fours without a loss of wicket. The 3rd pair of Joe and  Gabe proved to be equally as formidable, with a Joe hitting 2 fours and a six off the first 3 balls. The batting order was completed with Alfie and Charlie, who although losing a wicket a piece maintained an impressive run rate to the end.

Not including extras – Minch closed on 140 for the loss of 3 wickets off 16 overs.

With the memory of giving away 34 runs from wides alone last week – Minch took to the field having practiced their bowling extensively during training.

Dan Kettle opened the bowling and immediately took 3 wickets in his first over. Although the young Stinchcombe side we’re able to keep the run rate ticking over, the wickets were falling with equal regularity and some impressive fielding, especially from Alfie and Gabe keeping wicket, restricted the number of boundaries score to 6 in total.

Stinchcombe scored 32 of the bat with a loss of 11 wickets.

A resounding victory by Minch U23s over a young Stinchcombe side.

Next week Frocester away in the League which should be a leveller.

Training Thursday at 1800.
